About this project
The “metal brise-soleil” blades were made from strips of drawn metal (expanded metal), AFR-ATRIUM/R type mesh (R200 x 80 x 33 x 3), welded between 2 50 x 3 mm flats. At the ends, 50 x 30 x 3 mm angle irons complete the frame.
All aluminum is natural-tone anodized to a 20-micron satin finish.
Dimensions of metal brise-soleil slats: 400 x 1500 mm
A total of 13 km of metal brise-soleil blades were installed on this project.
The desired effect on the façade is a horizontal stacking of blades resembling the accumulation of pages in a book. These “pages” are slightly undulating brises-soleil that dress and protect a transparent volume open to its landscape. In this book, we spread the pages to mark certain “chapters” with “eyes”: the first floor, the various terraces at high levels that will be belvederes overlooking the sea and the mountains. The perception of the media library's facades is comparable to a white mirage, where the volume is destructured at the edges, blurring the boundaries between the whiteness of the skin and the blue of the sky. These natural-tone anodized aluminum slats change color according to the hues of the Indian Ocean sun.
