About the project
The architect wanted a clean, striking cladding for this complex of offices (Vinci regional headquarters), student residence and shops, in order to integrate the building into the site of the former abattoirs on Quai Paludate, between the traditional stalls and the monumental Méca (Maison de l'Economie Créative et de la Culture en Nouvelle Aquitaine).
To clad the building, the architect opted for Light Wage corrugated expanded metal panels, mounted on an angle frame. This type of solution makes it possible to use relatively large elements on a minimal load-bearing structure.
The density of the mesh allowed us to restore the pale gold (champagne) hue obtained by anodizing, while at the same time acting as a sunshade against the openings.
