About this project

The glazed building was enveloped by a set of BiOnde H31/66 panels acting as sunbreakers, with fixed and sliding panels.

The BiOnde H31/66 panels are made of expanded metal mesh type AFR-TAU30/1 (ST10 x 7.4 x 1.6 x 2) in 2 mm thick aluminium. The triangular profile ribs with rounded corners are 2 different heights, 31 mm and 66 mm, and are distributed in a specific sequence to create the appearance of random variation and give a veiling effect. This type of design requires a high level of metalworking expertise to ensure that the hole lines and bending axes are aligned.

AFR-TAU30/1 mesh is perfectly effective for good solar protection. Its void percentage of 46% enables it to fulfil its function as a solar screen while preserving the passage of light and the view to the outside.

To preserve the quality of the BiOnde panels used externally, they have been treated with a 20 micron class natural satin anodising.

A number of other precautions were taken to ensure that the BiOnde panels would last:
- Mounting them on a galvanised steel structure meant that the materials had to be isolated to avoid electrolytic coupling.
- The assemblies were designed to avoid harmful water retention.

The envelope of metal and light unifies the whole without obscuring the constructive reality of the building... making it possible to manage the relationship with the exterior, the view and the city.
