About this project
Drawing on his experience at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Strasbourg, Marc Mimram wanted to use the same principle to clad the library on the university campus. BiOnde panels were used to create a drapery that sets the volume apart and identifies the site. In addition to its aesthetic appeal, the ribbing of the BiOnde panels gives the panel an inertia to bending, making it possible to handle long spans (up to 5 metres) with a minimum of supports.
The expanded metal used (AFR-TAU30 mesh) lets in natural light while helping to reduce the effects of the sun. This is particularly interesting in the vicinity of the bay windows. Students can therefore enjoy the comfort of the interior while retaining a view of the outside horizon.
